Our story

We are celebrating the grand opening of Hisings Bridge – the new landmark of Gothenburg, in Sweden. This is the culmination of 10 years’ work for us at COWI, as the main consultant. The project was a major engineering challenge, in parts due to the infamous Gothenburg clay and the close proximity of the old bridge that was in use during the whole process. Last weekend, a new Copenhagen land mark was born. The 32-meters long and 45 tonnes heavy main span of the Folehaven bicycle and pedestrian bridge was lifted into place in one piece by two mobile cranes. In this time-lapse video, you can watch how the magic happens!
