Little Nile Lechwe fam! We suppose you could say herd, right now that herd consists of three individuals, mom, dad, and daughter. There was a older male calf from last year but he was moved on to another facility earlier this year to start his own herd. We are hopeful to continue to grow this little herd of endangered antelope in the future. | Fossil Rim Wildlife Center

We were able to catch up with 2024 Nile Lechwe calf 2 of 2. It was making a wobbly legged journey across the pasture with mom. The Nile Lechwe is a relatively recent addition to Fossil Rim, within the last 5 years. They are an endangered species only native to the grassland and inland wetlands of South Sudan and Ethiopia. Here at our place however, they are native to the giraffe pasture. So keep an eye out for two lechwe calves clumsly walking with their moms. | Fossil Rim Wildlife Center
