Two-time Grammy Award-winning reggae drummer Sly Dunbar, who fueled countless tracks from Bob Marley to Bob Dylan and was one-half of the influential reggae rhythm section Sly & Robbie, has died. He was 73. Dunbar’s wife, Thelma, announced the death to the Jamaica Gleaner.
“The world of Reggae has lost one of its true icons, Sly Dunbar (of Sly & Robbie) one of the greatest drummers of all time who played on literally thousands and thousands of recordings has passed away,” British dub and reggae DJ David Rodigan said on Instagram. “Such a tragic loss for he was dearly loved.”
